Rene Inei is an Australian artist who lives and works near Geelong, Victoria. He is inspired by the landscape of south west Victoria. "My work attempts to describe how I feel towards this amazing area, how it impacts me and makes me feel. I am fascinated by the cold fronts which smother the serene volcanic plains and hills and the coastline which is hammered and shaped by the Southern Ocean."

Obviously this area has a profound impact on Rene as an artist. His intention is not to try and depict what he sees but rather what he feels and thinks about the landscape. "What I try to capture and depict in my painting are things like intensity, drama, history, weight, weathering, light and so on. These kind of things can be illusive but really spur me on."
