OPENING SOON
Welcome to Bushfire Defence Kits. We supply kits of clothing,
equipment and supplies to defend domestic properties
against bushfire. As this site is
not quite ready to open for business, any products purchased will not be
delivered nor will you be billed.
Please note THIS IS NOT FIREFIGHTING
EQUIPMENT. It is important to be aware that a properly
prepared property may be defended against a bushfire threat (before,
during, and after the firefront passes). However, the kits supplied
by Bushfire Defence Kits are NOT intended for putting out
fires - the kits are intended to assist and protect people who are
preventing their assets catching fire in the first place. If major
assets catch fire and start to burn (such as the house, a shed, or a vehicle),
appropriate firefighting equipment is required – usually provided
by your firefighting service. However, we do provide links to
suppliers of pumps, hoses and other equipment that may be suitable
for outright firefighting.
Our kits consist of protective clothing such as hats, gloves,
smoke masks and goggles which prevent minor burns caused by falling
embers, chafing or blisters from the use of hand tools, and reduce
the effects of dust, smoke and ash in the air. The kits also include
equipment such as torch, AM radio for monitoring local radio
broadcasts, water backpacks for extinguishing burning embers or small
spot fires, rainpipe blockers, and other items. In addition, the kits
contain first-aid medical supplies for minor burns and irritated
eyes. Finally, fluid and energy boosting items help keep you going over
what may be an extended period of continuous activity.
The Bushfire Defence Kits contain above all information and
advice, as gathered from official sources, and presented in quick and
easy formats.
If you live in an area that may be threatened by bushfire, it is
in your interests to prepare yourself and your home for that threat. Simply buying a
bushfire defence kit is not enough, though – preparations are
necessary throughout the year the ensure that your property is
actually defendable. Close proximity to large quantities of fuel
(bushes, long grass, trees etc.) makes it very hard to prevent fire
catching hold in the midst of raging winds, raining embers, and
choking smoke. For your own safety, and for the enhanced protection
of your property and assets, you should read, understand, and apply
the advice given about preparing your property for bushfire risks.
This may well entail making compromises between living "in the
bush" and being able to safely defend your property.
